Many riders had their start at Saddlewood. One of the most popular programs was Saturday Riding where aspiring riders could spend the day with their favourite horse. This fall, Saddlewood is pleased to offer a Saturday program for riders aged 7-17. Saddlewood is conveniently located 20 minutes from Lindsay, 25 minutes from Peterborough, 25 minutes from Port Perry and 20 minutes from Highway 407.

Enjoy our extensive property. Saddlewood’s riding facilities include three barns containing 97 stalls, a 70 by 200 foot indoor riding ring, two Olympic-sized dressage/equitation riding rings, two sand rings for jumping, grass-footed hunter jumping ring, three cross-country courses with a variety of obstacles for all levels of rider, and 400 acres with groomed trails.

In addition, participants can enjoy acres of manicured play space for games, as well as a dining hall and picnic tables outside for eating.  Saddlewood also has a bathroom complex with multiple toilets and sinks.

Working around horses naturally follows the social distancing measures. Saddlewood has always required riders to maintain a distance of two horse lengths apart at all times. As a member of the Ontario Camps Association, Saddlewood adheres to their COVID-19 protocol. Each horse and rider will have their own stall as well as a second stall for their tack, grooming supplies and equipment. Storage of these items will be arranged so that only the rider will handle their materials. Should assistance be required, all staff members have been trained to follow the required safety procedures.

All riders require:

·       Helmet approved for riding
·       Boots with heel (e.g. riding boots, rain boots, Blundstones…)
·       Riding pants or leggings

* 1 application per rider

Please email us directly if you have any questions.

For Saturday riding: Riders arrive 20 prior to their lesson time and leave 15-20 minutes after the lesson. This allows the barn to maintain minimum numbers during Covid-19 restrictions.
